Who Will Pick the Bones of the Vultures? (Romney Campaigns Against Foreclosure Relief)

Does one detect a little cynicism in my posts today?

I shot this image of a dead vulture about a week ago while on a bike ride. I wondered at the time whether there would be some other carrion-eater that would feast upon the flesh of this carrion-eater. A week later, when I passed again, there he still sat, relatively undisturbed, stinking and rotting. Is this a sign of our times metaphorically? Have we reached the point where we've sunk so low that even the vultures won't pick at our bones? I think about the commentary of a certain presidential candidate who said "Don’t try to stop the foreclosure process. Let it run its course and hit the bottom." (Mitt Romney, speaking to the editorial board of the Las Vegas Review-Journal this week.)  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/18/mitt-romney-foreclosure-relief_n_1017751.html

  1. I see a retrospective of late 20th and early 21st centuries capitalism gone haywire in your photos, Rob.

  2. Indeed. And not accidental either. Well, the vulture conveniently appearing at the roadside was accidental, but my choice of photographing him and commenting on his demise in the context of our current situation is no accident at all.
