Tramp House, New Vernon, NJ

This stone building was built in about 1876 to house homeless vagrants during the post-Civil War Depression. I would estimate that the building is about 8 by 10 feet on the exterior with one door, no windows and a few very tiny vents built into the stone work. Yes, shocklingly, people did live in this edifice; albeit, hopefully for a short time.
