Peanut and Fireworks

Peanut
It's 9:35pm on July 3, 2013.

Somewhere near by our house a big fireworks exhibition is being fired off tonight.

The booms and bursts make me think of Peanut, who would have been huffing, puffing, panting, circling the room, hiding under the bed and generally freaking out. I miss that goddamned dog.

Only my family and the Bloom family (DVM Bloom et al.; you know who you are) could possibly appreciate the rich ambivalence that causes me to use "goddamned" to describe Peanut and know that I mean it with great, but perfurbed affection.

I hope he can rest during the many recent thunderstorms and all the Independence Day pyrotechnics. Lord only knows he never rested during any of that noisy nonsense during his brief visit to our planet.

Peanut, honey, wherever you are today, please, just chill out. We have a tranquilizer if you need it. Remember that humans don't like it when you bite them.
Love, Daddy.

  1. Ohhh.....stupid fireworks. Poor Peanut! I hope that wherever he is, he'll cosmically pizzle out a few hundred roman candles or so.
