There are those who say that Saint Ronald Wilson Reagan would be too moderate, far tooooo centrist and accommodating, to survive a primary battle in today's Republican Party. His own son, Ron, for example.
They are right.
However, I think that the folks who have intimidated Speaker Boehner (why is it that spell check always wants to substitute "Boner"????) and the rest of the House and large chunks of the Republicans in the Senate to behave so timidly, prove that the Tea Party fringe would hardly accept Barry Goldwater or even Attila the Hun as being sufficiently conservative.
One can only hope that they cannibalize themselves sooner rather than later.
I can respect that reasonable people might think that our government is bloated, inefficient, etc. What I can't countenance is that folks who are members of Congress, which by definition makes them an integral part of government, can claim that we ought to slash and burn most of the government.
If they really believe that, let them do the honorable thing and resign from that thing which they despise.
