Midtown Manhattan, circa 1983 or 84. Around 53rd St. at Lexington Avenue. Somewhere in the vicinity of the current "Lipstick" tower best known as the home of Bernie Madoff's business. There are no doubt those who wish the newer building had been torn down with Mr. Madoff still in it. At the time that I shot this, the block was being cleared to make room for that or another office tower, one of many that would push out some of the smaller buildings still left in the neighborhood. One building owner was a holdout and the tower was built in manner that more or less engulfed his building. I that one is the building across the street from the Lipstick building, perhaps what was built on the lot where this shot was taken. The memory fades.
